The latest -H revision of MIL-STD-461 published in April 2026 brings important clarifications for RS103 radiated susceptibility testing in the frequency range below 30 MHz. The standard now explicitly excludes E-field generators with a transformer feed from formal qualification testing, as they do not propagate a true electromagnetic field — making the choice of test apparatus more critical than ever.
Montena’s parallel plate lines are designed precisely for this purpose. By generating a true propagating electromagnetic field (TEM mode) with excellent uniformity across the test boundary, they fully meet the updated MIL-STD-461H requirements for RS103 testing. Equipment under test can be successively evaluated in both polarisations without dismounting, saving time and reducing handling risk.

RS103 radiated susceptibility testing on large EUT shall be performed using for instance Montena’s E&H-field generator. This equipment generates a true propagating EM field in TEM mode in the frequency range up to 30 MHz, with an excellent uniformity in a large test volume.
