High voltage fast transients measurement in coaxial cables

The commercially available high voltage probes for oscillsocope are limited to a few tens of MHz. The measurement of very fast high voltage transients requires an alternate approach, for instance with V-dot sensors.
The V-dot sensor is a derivative voltage sensor designed for the measurement of very fast transients up to less than a nanosecond in a coaxial cable, up to a voltage of more than 200 kV.
The response of the sensor is derivative. Therefore, the signal measured with a high-speed oscilloscope must be integrated. The integration can be active or passive (for instance with a passive integrator ITR from montena).

Montena has developped PULSELab, a software application dedicated to measurement of electric and electromagnetic transients. PULSELab tremendously eases the measurement by taking in account the transfer functions of each componant of the measurement chain and delivering the measured electromagnetic field transient in its native unit (V, A, V/m or A/m).
Montena proposes a full range of measurement equipment and software applications especially designed for the measurement of electromagnetic pulses, as for instance the NEMP.
